Iceland Guide
Iceland (officially) the Republic of
Iceland) is a European country situated in
the North Atlantic Ocean. Around 316,000
people live in Iceland, the majority of whom
live in the capital, Reykjavik. Iceland is
located just south of the Arctic Circle; the
Artic Circle passes through one of Iceland's
islands, Grimsey. Iceland's closest
neighbours are Greenland and the Faroe
Islands.
Travel in Iceland
Iceland can be reached by ferry from
Scotland, Norway, Denmark and the Faroe
Islands. Iceland also has an international
airport, in the town of Reykjanesbaer.
The best way to see Iceland is by car; there
is a ring road that circles the whole island
close to the coastline. Due to the
mountainous and icy interior of the country,
much of central Iceland is inaccessible.
