Discover Scotland
Take a ferry to Scotland and experience one
of Europe's amazing holiday destinations.
Scotland is famous primarily for its
spectacular scenery, but it also offers a
rich historical and cultural heritage. You
can experience this relatively small country
which is still very rich in contrasts.
The country offers you gentle rolling hills,
rugged coastlines, dramatic peaks, beautiful
and historic cities, ancient castles and
much more. You can catch a ferry to the
inner and outer Hebrides from the ferry port
of Oban to visit some amazing holiday
destinations (try the islands of Colonsey,
Mull or Jura)
Travelling in Scotland
Good ferry services operate between the
mainland and all the Scottish islands. By
train, there are good services connecting
all the main towns, particularly in the
Edinburgh-Glasgow area. The road network is
better and more direct on the east coast ,
and roads north of Inverness tend to be
slower and often single lane.
Things to see
Edinburgh is among the outstanding cities of
the world, where the medieval Old Town
contrasts with the elegant Georgian New
Town. Its Fringe Festival claims to be the
world's largest arts festival. It takes
place in Scotland's capital during three
weeks every August alongside several other
arts and cultural festivals, collectively
known as the Edinburgh Festival.
One of the big regions in the country is the
Highlands with plenty of history and natural
beauty. To the east you will find the region
of castles and whiskey.
